Membership in Swedish golf clubs for Sandinavian Golf Society (SGS) members
As most people are probably aware, GolfSweden has made a decision to limit the number of members a golf club can have, although it is now postponed. If this comes into effect, a number of members in “Mailbox clubs” will lose their memberships.
This clearly also affects SGS. SGS has a number of members who live completely or partially outside Sweden and cannot pay a full membership fee in a regular Swedish golf club because they would never play any rounds at the "home club". Some of these are at risk of being thrown out and losing their golf ID in the future. This would mean that they can no longer play SGS competitions. We have about 40 members who are at risk of being affected. In addition, it affects the ability to welcome new players who do not live in Sweden. Some Swedish golf clubs also have payment systems that require a Swedish address and Swedish credit cards, which further complicates matters.
We have therefore had discussions with two golf clubs who have promised to help us. These offer green fee membership for 2026 for a cost of 595 SEK, which can be considered an attractive price level. There may certainly be other options that will appear in the future, which we do not yet know about.
It is of course up to each individual to take advantage of this opportunity, but we do not want our golf friends to risk being thrown out of our SGS competitions.
The two clubs are Degeberga Widtsköfle GK and Bosjökloster GK.
The memberships can be considered equivalent so it is a matter of taste which one you choose. However, there are differences in how you pay for your membership, at least if you live outside Sweden and do not have a Swedish bank.
Degeberga Widtsköfle will email the membership invoice and it can be paid by bank transfer even from non-Swedish banks. You will then not be dependent on Swedish banks or credit cards. The invoice will contain information about BIK and Swift number for international payment.
Bosjökloster will register golfid. Then you go to Min Golf and pay the invoice there, using the payment methods available there. You can pay with credit card and Swish, among other things.
